A future without diaper waste

Using diaper recycling and composting technologies, we can achieve a net zero diaper waste future.

Every minute 300,000 used diapers are thrown away globally.

That is over 48 million tonnes of wet dirty diapers yearly (or 85,720 Airbus A380's)!
But despite this huge number of waste being thrown away by consumers, little is being done to address this diaper waste conundrum.

The dirty unspoken truth is that parents around the world shy away from this issue, whether it's the developing or developed world. Cost, convenience, and lack of awareness of potential solutions all have led to this massive global waste headache.

Diaper Waste lasts for 500 years

With the prevalence of disposable diapers today, it is no wonder that this technological marvel invented since the 1940's has ultimately led to a environmental catastrophe. Every minute, 300,000 used disposable diapers are either thrown into a landfill, incinerated or polluting our seas and waterways. This continues to grow yearly, as over 90% of parents use disposable diapers.

In fact, disposable diapers form about 4% of ALL solid waste and are the third largest single consumer item in landfills after paper and clothing. Worst still, when thrown into a landfill, diapers take almost 500 years to break down due to the complex structure and choice of oil-based plastics that make up a large proportion of diaper components.

It pollutes the environment

Especially harmful is the irresponsible dumping of used diapers into waterways, polluting the environment with human excrement, microplastics and plastic fibres. These plastic fibres have been found in fish and animals, being ingested through the food chain.

In some countries, open air dumping and burning of used disposable diapers releases harmful toxic chemicals into the air.

We believe recycling used diapers is key to a net zero diaper waste future

The beauty is that a USED diaper can be recycled into useful materials that can be utilized back into non-food consumer products, furniture and other industrial purposes.

However, not all components of a diaper can be recycled. Additionally the difficulty of collecting used diapers remains one of the biggest challenges to recycling diapers.

We at Cozycove believe that these challenges are not insurmountable. With our programmes, we envision a world without diaper waste.

Cozycove envisions

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting such a nice hotel to be part of a tour. Kempinski Hotel was in a great location in Amman’s central business district, the service was outstanding, and the rooms were very comfortable with the biggest and best pillows I’ve ever had. The bathroom towels were gigantic and just as luxurious as the fluffy robe. I couldn’t have wished for a more comfortable bed for the 13 hour sleep I had on my first evening - after 30 hours without it.

Spending 15 minutes each day in the complimentary steam and sauna room in the Spa helped me recover from jet lag. The buffet breakfast and dinners were also delicious and full of Jordanian food. Hotel breakfast and dinner buffets are included in the Globus tour. There are local restaurants within walking distance to the hotel if you want to eat out. You will love having 5 Star accommodation at affordable prices on your Escape by Globus tours.

Return After A Long Week Of Memories

What you do on this final day of your Jordan tour depends on what time you are flying out. Globus will transfer you directly to Amman airport from the Movenpick Resort and Spa.

Hot Tip: My flight was early morning, so I left the resort about 10pm. Had I known how great the Dead Sea Resort and Spa was, I would have delayed my flight until the following day and stayed an extra night and morning.
